Olympia Tamper with Olympia Logo for Cremina (49mm) & Maximatic (54mm)
Tamper for Olympia Espresso machines. It's the original tamper from the factory.
All Olympia Cremina's use 49mm tampers.
High Risk / High Reward

My wife and I have a 1987 Olympia Cremina machine. When we got it new, it came with PLASTIC parts; funnel, frothing pitcher, tamper, etc.. Recently - the plastic tamper broke. These newer factory tampers are EXPENSIVE (about $100.00). My wife was livid that I'd even consider spending that kind of money on a tamper. (Meanwhile - she buys shoes that are 5X's that amount and thinks nothing of it). Anyway - I ended up buying the tamper and a frothing pitcher using money from a VISA card given to us as rebate payment from previous purchase. I waited a day to tell her - and OMG she was so upset. Just absolutely beside herself upset. However, now that we have it - and use it everyday - she loves it and actually thanked me for getting this beautiful (albeit expensive) tamper. I want to get a new funnel - but with a price tag of $45.00 - I'm not willing to risk my life! Maybe Johnny Cerini will send me one !!

One cannot find better machining, precision and closer tolerances built into a tamper. The fit into the basket is phenomenal & will have you repeating the phrase 'only the Swiss' every time you tamp, honestly. The rubber ring is so well thought out and is NOT there just for looks; it allows the thumb and index fingertips to finesse hand-leveling to a degree one can't appreciate until they see how this one handles. Exceeds the factory 49mm tamper (which is lovely nonetheless) that comes standard with the Cremina and I'd expect too, the 54mm version of the Maximatic.
